Since the quality of honesty applies to all behaviors, one cannot refuse to consider factual information, for example, in an unbiased manner and still claim that one's knowledge, belief or position is an attempt to be truthful. Such a belie f is clearly a product of one's desires and simply has nothing to do with the human ability to know. Basing one's positions on what one wants — rather than unbiased evidence gathering — is dishonest even when good intentions can be cited — after all even Hitler could cite good intentions and intended glory for a select group of people. Clearly then, an unbiased approach to the truth is a requirement of honesty. Because intentions are closely related to fairness and certainly affect the degree of honesty/dishonesty, there is a wide spread confusion about honesty--and a general belief that being dishonest means that one ALWAYS correctly understands if their behavior is either honest or dishonest. Self-perception of our morality is non-static and volatile. It's often at the moment we refuse to consider other perspectives that there is a clear indication we are not pursuing the truth, rather than simply and exclusively at the moment we can muster up evidence that we are right. Socrates had much to say about truth, honesty and morality, and explained that if people really understood that their behavior was wrong — then they simply wouldn't do it — by definition. Unfortunately, honesty in the western tradition has been marginalized to specific instances — perhaps because a thorough understanding of honesty collides with ideologies of all types. Ideologies and idealism often exaggerate and suppress evidence in order to support their perspectives — at the eXPense of the truth. This process erodes the practice and understanding of honesty. To an ideologist the truth quite often becomes insignificant, what matters most are their ideals and what ever supports their desires to enjoy and spread those ideals. Human beings are inherently biased about what they believe to be good due to individual tastes & backgrounds, but once one understands that a decidedly biased approach to what is true — is inherently dishonest, one can also understand how idealism and ideology have poorly served the quest for an honest, moral society. Both honesty and morality require that we base our opinions about what is good — upon unbiased ideas of what is TRUE — rather than vice versa (determining what is true based on what we feel is good) — the way all ideologies would have us believe.

Being grateful is an important philosophy of life and a great wisdom. It is impossible for anyone to be lucky and successful all the time as long as he lives in the world .We should learn how to face failure bravely and to try to deal with it.

I think we should be grateful to life whenever we are unsuccessful or unlucky. Only by doing this can we find our weakness and shortcomings when we fail .We can also get relief and warmth when we are unlucky. Being grateful is a way to sing for our life which comes just from our love and hope.

In this competitive society it is essential to know how to sell yourself in order to get the job you want. That means you must be able to market your best features and present yourself in the best light. After all,you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

There are several things you can do to project a good image in an interview. First of all, look like a winner. Dress conservatively and well, and you'll look like you're going to the top. Second, communicate clearly. Consider each question carefully and respond with total honesty. Remember to make eye contact and maintain good posture. You need to look attentive but also at ease. Third, have a positive and assertive attitude. It's important to appear confident of your ability and optimistic about your future. Finally,be prepared. Present a professional resume and be ready to explain everything in detail.

After the arduous military training,I get absolutely absorbed in my studies. The classes given by the teachers are excellent. They provide us with information not only from our textbooks but from many other sources as well. They easily arouse my insatiable desire to take in as much as I can.

Frankly speaking,at first I had some difficulty following the teachers. However, through my own efforts and thanks to my teachers' guidance,I made remarkable progress. Now I've benefited a lot from lectures and many other academic reports.

By following the advice above, you are bound to make a good impression on potential employers. Then you will be able to choose the best opportunity for you and take that first step towards success.

Dear:

A King who did't have children wanted an honest boy to be his inheritant.

He told all the boys who wanted to be chosen"Today I give each of you a seed, after three monthes, the boy who gets the most beatiful flower will be my inheritant."Three monthes passed, all the clever and bright boys took their beatiful flowers to flatter the King except one boy having nothing in his pot with his eyes full of boy said to the King:"My honorable King,I water it every day, feed her carefully, even when sleeping,I didn't let it away from me,but I can get nothing in the end."

The King laughed:"You can get nothing,my honest prince, because what I have given to you is burned seeds!"

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. The title of my speech today is "Crossing the Sea" . An English poet by the name of Rudyard Kipling once wrote in this poem "We and They" :

All the people like us are We

  and everyone else is They

  We live over the sea

While They live over the way

We eat pork and beef with cow horn-handled knives

They who gobble their rice off a leaf

Are horrified out of their lives.

When these lines first caught my eyes, I was shocked--how could two people remain so isolated and ignorant of each other in the past? Today′s society, of course, is an entirely different picture. Those people who used to eat with gobble their rice might be as well have taken to fish and chips.

Indeed, just take China as example; Our modern life has been influenced by Western style of living in so many ways that it′s no longer surprising to see teenagers going crazy about rock-and-roll, whole families dining out at McDonald′s and even rather elderly people dressed in Apple Jeans.

However, these are only some expressions of the cultural changes taking place in our society today. What is really going on is a subtle but significant restructuring of the nation′s mentality. Just look around.

How many college graduates are ready to compete aggressively for every job opportunity, whereas not long ago they were asked just to sit idle and wait for whatever was to be assigned to them by the government?

How many young people are now eager to seek for an independent life whereas only two decades ago they would rely totally on their parents to arrange for their future? Ask anyone who participates in today′s speech contest. Who has not come with a will to fight and who has not come determined to achieve self-fulfillment in winning the game? And I′m quite certain that if Confucius had lived to see today′s China, he would have been horrified to see young lovers kissing each other in public places in an unreserved expression of their passion.

It is therefore evident that we as descendants of an ancient Eastern civilization are already living under strong influence of the Western culture. But it is not only in China that we find the incorporation of the two cultures.

Take the United States as an example: During the 1980s, in face of the overwhelming competition from Japan, many American companies such as the Ford began to adopt a teamwork management from their rivals, the essence of which, lay at the very core of Eastern culture.

Take the Chinese acupuncture as another example: This traditional treatment of diseases is finally finding its way to the West and hence the underlying notion that illness is resulted from the imbalance between yin and yang within the body--an idea which would strike any Westerner as incredible in the past!

Ladies and Gentlemen, we live in a great epoch when the global integration of economy and the information revolution have brought cultures of the world closer than ever before. We live in a particular era when countries, East and West, find themselves in need of readjusting their traditional values. We live, at the same time, at a critical juncture of our evolution because such problems as ethnic conflicts and regional unrest are increasingly posing a threat to the peace and happiness of the whole human race.To cope with such an era and to embrace an even brighter future, we need to learn to live more harmoniously in a world community which is becoming smaller and smaller. My dear fellow students, our command of the English language render sit possible for us to gain an insight into Western culture while retaining our own cultural identity.

Therefore, it is our sacred responsibility to promote the cultural exchanges and hence the mutual understanding between China and the rest of the world.

It is my happiest dream that new generation of Chinese will not only grow up drinking Coca cola and watching Hollywood, but also be blessed with the far-reaching benefits of multiple cultures; benefits that our forefathers had never, ever dreamed of.

To end my speech, I would like to quote Rudyard Kipling again:

All the people like us are We

  And everyone else is They

But once you cross over the sea

You will end by looking on We

As only a sort of They.

  Thank you.

  女士们,先生们,我们恰逢一个伟大的时代:全球经济一体化、信息革命使得世界各种文化联系比以往更加紧密;

good morning, ladies and gentlemen:

today i’m very happy to be here to share with you some of my thoughts on the topic of globalization.and first of all, i would like to mention an event in our recent history.

thirty years ago, american president richard nixon made an epoch-making visit to china, a country still isolated at that time.premier zhou enlai said to him, “your

handshake came over the vastest ocean in the world - twenty-five years of no communication.” ever since then, china and america have exchanged many handshakes of various kinds.the fundamental implication of this example is that the need and desire to communicate acro differences in culture and ideology is not only felt by the two countries but by many other nations as well.

as we can see today, environmentalists from different countries are making joint efforts to addre the iue of global warming, economists are seeking solutions to financial crises that rage in a particular region but nonethele cripple the world’s economy, and diplomats and politicians are getting together to discu the iue of combating terrorism.peace and prosperity has become a common goal that we are striving for all over the world.underlying this mighty trend of globalization is the echo of e.m.forster’s words, “only connect!”

with the it revolution taking place, traditional boundaries of human society fall away.our culture, politics, society and commerce are being sloshed into a large melting pot of humanity.in this interlinked world, there are no outsiders, for a disturbance in one place is likely to impact other parts of the globe.we have begun to realize that a world divided cannot endure.

china is now actively integrating into the world.our recent entry to the wto is a good example.for decades, we have taken pride in being self-reliant, but now we realize the importance of participating in and contributing to a broader economic order.from the precarious role in the world arena to our present wto membership, we have come a long way.

but what does the way ahead look like? in some parts of the world people are demonstrating against globalization.are they justified then, in criticizing the globalizing world? instead of narrowing the gap between the rich and the poor, they say, globalization enables developed nations to swallow the developing nations’ wealth in debts and interest.globalization, they argue, should be about an earnest interest in every other nation’s economic health.

we are reminded by karl marx that capital goes beyond national borders and eludes control from any other entity.this has become a reality.multinational corporations are seeking the lowest cost, the largest market, and the most favorable policy.they are often powerful lobbyists in government decision-making, ruthle expansionists in the global market place and a devastating presence to local businees.

for china, still more challenges exist.how are we going to ensure a smooth transition from the planned economy to a market-based one? how to construct a legal system that is sound enough and broad enough to respond to the needs of a dynamic society? how to maintain our cultural identity in an increasingly homogeneous world? and how to define greatne in our rise as a peace-loving nation? globalization entails questions that concern us all.

like many young people my age in china, i want to see my country get prosperous and enjoying respect in the international community.but it seems to me that mere patriotism is not just enough.it is vitally important that we young people do more serious thinking and broaden our mind to bigger iues.and, there might never be easy answers to those iues such as globalization, but to take them on and

give them honest thinking is the first step to be prepared for both opportunities and challenges coming our way.and this is also one of the thoughts that came to me while preparing this speech.thank you.

My favourite season is spring. Everything is very lively in the spring. Theflowers are blooming, the trees are growing and the grass is turning green. Ilike lying on the grass and enjoy the sun shine in the park in the spring. Wealso can fly a kite, have a picnic, go on a trip or climb the mountain, but Idon‘t like to do those things, because they will make me feel tired. Some peoplelike to go to the countryside, however I don‘t think it is a good place to gofor a rest. I don‘t like the other season, because they are not very warm:summer is too hot, winter is too cold. While autumn is cool, it isn‘t verybeautiful. Last year, I went to the Slender West Lake in Yang Zhou. First wetook a boat to travel down the lake, we saw the Qiong flowers on the bank, andthey were very beautiful. Then we visited the Five Kiosks Bridge, there werefive kiosks on the bridge, and every kiosk has a long history. We sit in thekiosk and took some photos. Last we went to the Fishing Platform. Why do peoplecall it ?Fishing Platform‘? Because the emperor called ?Qian Long‘ in QingDynasty visited it. We also fished in it. We had a good time in Yang Zhou.Anyway, my favourite season is spring

good evening , ladies and gentlemen . i am joy and glad to give you a speech about stress , yes , just the topic you see on the screen.

psychologist tell us that stress is a state of worry caused by the problem of living , such as too much work or study , heavy responsibilities , and quickened pace of life .

statistics show that stress comes from every detail in our life . financial problems , poor health , being laid off may be the stress that most adults now suffering . as students in the university , we are also under our special stress . while study , having to take various tests and submit a project against a deadline may put a great pressure on us . and the things make us felt stressed may be our parents’s greater expectations on us than we could reach . later , when we are likely to graduate , some other problems will also annoy us . i think we will worry a lot about our ability to compete in the job market and how we can best use what we’ve learned at college in our future job .

the chief problem we should face to is our atitude towards stress .people usually say they can not live in the sun except they escape from stress . it’s unwelcome ! yes , however , very necessary . just image a world where stress does not exist and people lead their life in a very comfortable way . but is this kind of living condition as perfect as we hope ? without stress , they may feel very satisfied with the current life but lack of power to discover new things . too much result in nothing except a countermarch of the society . no stress , no development . so a certain amount of stress is good . it can stimulate us and increase our level of alertness .

and our answer to stress is another vital problem . how to do with ourselves when stress suddenly break into our life ? to wave the white flag and admit our unability , to give up to our ideality , or worstly , just to suicide as to put an end to everything … of cause not . the principle is to tackle with stress gentlely and harmoniously. we should try our best to release ourselves . such as to do some exercise , to linsen to traditional chinese music or classical music to ease our minds and to learn to view these changes of life as challenges .it’s no use crying over spilt milk . only to accept what has happened can solve the problem .

ok , i think i was under large stress 3 minutes before , but now i am here and have finished my speech . here is the last thing i want to add to my topic ,face to it and overcome it ,stress is also a piece of cake.

I always think there is not enough time. For example,I have just taken a three-day holiday. But when I look back,I just feel that it‘s only one day. There goes a proverb,“Time is money”。 Now I want to say, time is more precious than money, because when money is spent,we can earn some more again. However, when time is gone or lost, never will it return.

Time goes without being noticed. The time for our study and work is usually limited. So I think we must make full use of our time. But it‘s a pity that I am always not aware of the importance of time until it’s too late.

So I think,I should get into the good habit of saving time because wasting time is equal to wasting one‘s life. Do not put off what can be done today till tomorrow!

  I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every vally shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low,the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

Wow,what a dream it has been for Martin Luther King. But the changing world seems telling me that people gradually get their dreams lost somehow in the process of growing up,and sometimes I personally find myself saying goodbye unconsciously to those distant childhood dreams.

However,we meed dreams. They nourish our spirit; they represent possibility even when we are dragged down by reality. They keep us going. Most successful people are dreamers as well as ordinary people who are not afraid to think big and dare to be great. When we were little kids,we all dreamed of doing something big and splashy, something significant. Now what we need to do is to maintain them, efresh them and turn them into reality. However, the toughest part is that we often have no ideas how to translate these dreams into actions. Well, just start with concrete objectives and stick to it. Don’t let the nameless fear confuse the eye and confound our strong belief of future. Through our talents, through our wits, through our endurance and through our creativity,we will make it.

Hold fast to dreams,or if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go,life is a barren field frozen with snow. So my dear friends, think of your old and maybe dead dreams. Whatever it is,pick it up and make it alive from today.

The love of parents is as vast and exquisite as the sunshine in spring. Iremember one night, I suddenly fell ill with acute appendicitis. It hurt so muchthat I kept rolling about on the bed. Mother looked at me like this, without aword, put on a dress, put me back on a back to her, also like to fly "punch" tothe nearby hospital. In such a cold night, through the street light, I saw thebean big sweat dripping from my mother's face imperceptibly, my tears ran downmy cheeks, it was moved to tears, that is the tears of gratitude.

I often think of this matter, I was filled with a thousand regrets. Fromthe day we were born, we were enjoying the moisture of our parents. From ouryoung children thrive is full of wit of the students, in the process of growththis decade, parents do not know how much effort and energy, feed us with sweatand effort, watching our every little bit. Just like a lamp, patiently guide meto the right way.

"Who grass inch heart, reported in the apartments". I think, why not, onlyyou study hard, study hard, diligent in thinking, Yongpangaofeng, to rewardoutstanding achievements owe their parents, try to become a useful to thecountry and the society is a man of tremendous promise for the parents, the bestway of thanksgiving.

I"ll tell you an experience of myself happened last week. last thursday our school was tackling something about woking fou study. i wanted to have a try even though i knew the salary was so low and i had little chance, because the students who had the certificate were always thought to have priority to get the job. fortunately i was called at noon and a teacher said to me that she wanted me to work for her and asked if i could change my mind.

At that moment i was so excited that immediately i accepted her idea. but later on,she found me that i"m not a student,so i had little chance and suggest me to get one. then an idea occurred to me that i could call my father and ask him to send me the letter. at the same time i was told that i was admitted to the job and don"t need the certificate. that time i forgot to remind my father, until the next day he called me that he had posted it and it would arrive in just one day.

At that moment i was moved, and even moved into tears, because i knew my father was injured not long before, the process of helping me with the affairs was not so convenient for him. but he tried his best to help me. sometimes we may complain about unsatisfying things around us,and blame them on our parents, sometimes they"ll be angry with us, and sometimes we can"t quite understand what they are thinking about. but on balance, almost every parent is selfless to his or her child.

They are ready to offer everything to us when we are in bad situation. we used to sharing sorrow with them, but do not forget to share our happiness with them, perhaps they will be much happier than we are. so from now on, let"s care more about our parents and do not leave pity to them. that"s what i want to tell you today. thank you!
